Why this program

Patrol life is its own world. The therapy should be too.

You are asked to carry real risk for people who may not carry much for you. The hours strain relationships, the pay rarely matches the skill, and the season ends whether you are ready or not. This program does not pretend otherwise. It is a space to make sense of the whole picture, with someone who takes it seriously.

Six themes

What we can work through together

01

Identity: Formation, Integration, and Deconstruction

What drew you to patrolling, where it fits in the bigger arc of your life, and what you actually want right now. Whether you are new and lit up or deep in burnout, we start by getting clear on your core values and goals.

02

Risk vs. Reward: Inherent Risk and Institutional Apathy

The real bargain of the job. You are sent into avalanche terrain at 6am and called essential personnel, then treated as dispensable the moment an accident threatens the bottom line. We name that tension honestly.

03

Trauma and Impact

The injuries and chronic wear on the body, the harassment or inequity, and the vicarious weight of the grief and loss you witness on the mountain. Space to process what the work asks you to carry.

04

Relationships: Sustainability and Viability

Whether meaningful relationships can hold up against 5am alarms, weekend shifts, and physical exhaustion, on-season and off, and what it costs when they cannot.

05

Inequity and Financial Servitude

The gap between the people doing the frontline work and the structure they work inside, and the strain of not being able to afford to live in the town where you work. Not an abstract critique, but how it plays out in your life.

06

Transiency, Stability, and Home

The seasonal churn: finding off-season work that matches highly skilled labor, the cost and stress of moving, shifting social circles, and sporadic health insurance. What stability and home can look like in a transient profession.

These are themes, not a curriculum. We can take them in any order, weave them together, or set some aside entirely. You are in charge of where the work goes.
